Stellantis's $13 billion US plan, plant by plant

A reference guide to Stellantis's announced four-year, $13 billion United States investment as set out in its own October 14, 2025 press release: five new vehicle launches, 19 product actions, the Belvidere reopening, plant assignments in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana, and the conditions the company attached.

On October 14, 2025, Stellantis announced plans to invest $13 billion over the next four years in the United States, in what the company called the largest single investment in its 100-year US history. The US-market program covers five new vehicle launches and 19 product actions through 2029, and the company says it will add more than 5,000 jobs at plants in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.

The company states the plan will increase annual finished vehicle production in the US by 50% over current levels, and that the launches come on top of a regular cadence of 19 refreshed products across all US assembly plants and updated powertrains planned through 2029. The figures in this article are as published by Stellantis in that release and apply to the United States market; whether the investment affects Stellantis's operations in other markets is not addressed in this release.

The plants and products named

As set out in Stellantis's October 14, 2025 announcement, made at stellantis.com, the plant actions named are:

  • Illinois: more than $600 million to reopen the Belvidere Assembly Plant, expanding production of the Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Compass for the US market, with an initial production launch expected in 2027 and around 3,300 new jobs anticipated.
  • Ohio: nearly $400 million, with assembly of an all-new midsize truck, previously allocated to Belvidere, planned to move to the Toledo Assembly Complex, joining the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator; launch timing expected in 2028 and more than 900 jobs could be created.
  • Michigan: Stellantis plans to develop an all-new range-extended EV and internal combustion engine large SUV produced at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant beginning in 2028, with nearly $100 million to retool and more than 900 jobs anticipated.
  • Michigan: $130 million to prepare the Detroit Assembly Complex – Jefferson for production of the next-generation Dodge Durango, with production anticipated to launch in 2029.
  • Indiana: the all-new GMET4 EVO four-cylinder engine at Kokomo facilities beginning in 2026, with more than $100 million planned and more than 100 jobs.

CEO Antonio Filosa, who is also North America COO, framed the program as a customer play: "As we begin our next 100 years, we are putting the customer at the center of our strategy, expanding our vehicle offerings and giving them the freedom to choose the products they want and love." He also called accelerating growth in the US "a top priority since my first day." Those are the company's stated aims, not independent assessments.

Conditions and caveats the release attached

The plant-specific figures are not unconditional commitments. As a note to the release states, the investments are "subject to the successful negotiation and final approval of development packages with appropriate state and local governments." In practical terms, the $600 million Belvidere figure and the plan's timing could still move as those negotiations conclude.

The release also carries Stellantis's forward-looking statements, which list risks including the ability to launch products successfully and maintain vehicle shipment volumes, raw material shortages, exchange-rate and interest-rate changes, and battery cost and volume targets. The company states that forward-looking statements speak only as of the date of the document — October 14, 2025 — and that it disclaims any obligation to update them publicly.

Context the release gives

Stellantis describes its existing US footprint as 34 manufacturing facilities, parts distribution centers and research and development locations across 14 states, supporting more than 48,000 employees, 2,600 dealers and nearly 2,300 suppliers. It also notes the announcement builds on actions it had already announced in January 2025. All of these figures are the company's own, as stated in the October 14, 2025 release.

Where the plan stands

Where the release states an intention, as it does for the $600 million Belvidere reopening ("Stellantis intends to invest"), that is how it is reported here: as the company announced on October 14, 2025, at stellantis.com. No product has been driven or measured, and the jobs, production and dollar figures are the US-market numbers from that one document as it stood on that date.

Each figure above is attributed to Stellantis's October 14, 2025 press release, so a reader can compare any of them against that same document as the company published it.
